Commissioned watercolor portrait of your pet in a funky folk-art clock
What it is:
Unique commission-only portraits of your dog(s) in watercolor, surrounded by a beautifully hand made clock. Send me a picture of your cutie, I'll draw and paint him or her. The clock is made of several layers of recycled-fabric covered disks that give the clock a three dimensional look, topped by a thin layer of epoxy resin, giving it a shiny, artisan finish. Often the tail or legs of the dog stick out over the numbers which gives the clocks a big sense of movement. No static-looking stock dogs here. I have a variety of minute and second hands, some looking like lace, others with bones or stars at the ends. Sophisticated yet adorable, these clocks are the perfect gift for a dog lover. Be reminded of their wonderfulness whenever you check the time.
THE FEATURED CLOCKS ARE NOT FOR SALE, THEY ARE ONLY EXAMPLES OF WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU.
I can be contacted at isobel.gabel@gmail.com. If you are interested, drop me a wire and maybe send a couple of photos. I haven't researched paypal, so I suppose I'll say, send me a check, I will send you a clock. They are $89. If you want two dogs, or any pet, for that matter, the price is $104. I will fed ex it to you within three weeks.
A native of Vermont, I have been a dog lover my whole life—for warmth. I’ve fallen head over heals for a few, but it wasn’t until I moved to this part of the world and adopted a baby Blue Heeler that I truly appreciated the unpredictable proclivities and joys of owning a dog. My heart nearly bursts with love when I think of Mr. Blue. I love this dog! Full of energy and enthusiasm, my tireless companion encourages me to be inquisitive, adventurous, and forgiving but will never say no to a good old fashioned cuddle puddle or a brisk walk. I tried to draw Mr. Blue. The sketch looked like a funky pig with growths, but then, after experimenting and actually looking at him, I figured out how his little body is put together. I thought of making the clock when I needed a gift for friends who adore their Blue Heeler-Pitt Mix, Django, whose left nut never dropped, and Wilson (Wilsey), their ferociously crapulent Jack Russell. Because I thought my friends, and others as well, might want to be reminded of their little sage-like loves at any hour, I got out my paper and glue and began designing clocks of dog. One of the best things in life—to love a dog!
My clocks are also for sale at the Funky Mutt of Asheville, NC, where the owner, Susan, will be delighted to work with you on a purchase. Check out her store of unique dog-related wares. She's getting a website together as we speak, but until that time, go visit her on Lexington Ave, in A'ville.
